SWISS, the official airline of the 86th International Lauberhorn Races

FRANKFURT, January 22 -- As part of its ongoing commitment to Swiss sport and major Swiss sporting events, for the fifth time, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) served as official airline of the 86th International Lauberhorn Races, which was held in Wengen in the Bernese Oberland on the weekend of 15-17 January.

SWISS supported this legendary event (the longest course on the World Cup Circuit) by performing a spectacular flypast with one of its aircraft, accompanied by the Patrouille Suisse; and, as an additional highlight, the Airbus A321 involved was formally named “Wengen" in a special ceremony on the ground just before the Saturday downhill event.

The Airline of Switzerland contributed some major off-piste highlights to this world-famous skiing event. As last year, a SWISS aircraft performed a spectacular flypast over the race area, against the majestic local mountain backdrop, accompanied by the F5-E Tigers of the Patrouille Suisse Swiss Air Force display team. Weather permitting, the flypast was performed on the Friday (between the combination downhill and slalom) and the Saturday (before the downhill event).

SWISS is proud to support the national teams of all these associations by flying them to and from their training and major events and competitions all over the world.
