Star Alliance CSC Belgium member carriers visit London Heathrow Terminal 2

Members of the Star Alliance Country Steering Council (CSC) Belgium recently visited London Heathrow Terminal 2 as a special off-site meeting/familiarisation. Fifteen airline General Managers and Country Managers, together with Jannigje Valkenburg - Star Alliance Market Coordinator Benelux - attended this one-day educational airport visit, prior to holding their CSC Meeting.

At the meeting, Simon Scoggins, Heathrow Program Director for Star Alliance, presented a keynote about the years of preparations, the enormous challenges and the complexity in moving 23 member airlines and 3 ground handlers under one roof. Afterwards, Jeremy Pennington, Senior Airline Business Development for Heathrow Airports, walked the group through the terminal to experience LHR T2 from both the arrival and departure areas, continuing to the Lufthansa Lounge at the T2A Departures Level, then the three 'international' lounges at T2B (the Air Canada Maple leaf Lounge, the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge and the United Global First Lounge and United Club).

“The result is fabulous! It's a real asset to be proud of and this visit will definitely help us to better understand and sell the unique features of Star Alliance and this hub," said Steven De Bisschop, Country Manager Belgium & Luxembourg for Air Canada and Chairperson of CSC Belgium. “No wonder it has already been awarded 'Airport of the Year'".

“LHR T2 really showcases what an alliance can mean for a business traveler and makes the most of combining the Star Alliance family members", added Jannigje. “We will make sure to send corporate customers, sales teams and travel agents via T2. We can't think of a better promotion of Star Alliance and it will definitely enhance our business relations with our travel partners once they experience this benefit of working together as Star Alliance. I know we were impressed!"
