Toronto SAAT becomes 2015 Americas SAAT of the year

FRANKFURT, February 5 - The Star Alliance Airport Team (SAAT) at Toronto's Pearson International Airport has been selected Americas SAAT of the Year 2015, as the team has achieved all of its workplan goals and also scored highest in customer satisfaction surveys for both transfer improvements and priority baggage monitoring with continuous improvements throughout the year.

The YYZ SAAT currently comprises 11 carriers (AC, AV, BR, CM, ET, LH, LO, MS, OS, TK, and UA) operating in Terminal 1, under the local leadership of Bernhard Tavernier and Jason Odey from Air Canada, and with the support and cooperation of the entire SAAT Team.

YYZ SAAT received this recognition due to the following achievements:

  • Successfully implemented the "Seamless Hub" project to improve Star - Star transfer processes in YYZ.
  • The activities of the Star Alliance Connections Center (YYZ SCC) resulted in cost avoidance of over 1.1 million Euros (JAN-NOV15).
  • Organised a successful Emergency Response tabletop.
  • Created a new newsletter for Star Alliance airport colleagues.
  • Arranged a very successful "Taste of the Star and Marketplace" event.
  • Organized a Food Drive to benefit Homeless Youth.
