Star Alliance Upgrade Awards

Did you know that frequent flyers can enjoy more benefits with Star Alliance Upgrade Awards, which is an electronic upgrade product? Customers can use miles or points earned in their own Frequent Flyer Programme to upgrade on flights operated by any of our member airlines. They can upgrade one class of service, enabling them to enjoy benefits such as priority check-in, lounge access and a more personal onboard service.

“Star Alliance upgrade awards were launched in 2005 as industry first automated alliance upgrade product and are now available across all our member carriers," said Anakelly Lima, Manager Loyalty Products. “The upgrade process is automated through the Web and can be requested up to 24 hours before flight departure"

How to upgrade:

Customers need to have a ticketed reservation to request a Star Alliance Upgrade Award. They then need to contact their own Frequent Flyer Programme. The reservation must be with the operating carrier – codeshare bookings cannot be upgraded for technical reasons.

The upgrade must be requested and confirmed in advance and is subject to seat availability. So, customers will need to check with their FFP and ensure they meet the applicable terms and conditions.

Any miles customers use are automatically deducted from their FFP account when the upgrade request is confirmed.
