Turkish Airlines reports US$1.69b net profit in 2015
Turkish Airlines reported a 2015 net profit of US$1.69b, up from $845m for the previous year and surpassing a billion dollar level for the first time in its history. During 2015, profit from main operations stood at $895m, up 32% compared to in 2014. Sales revenue was $10b 522m, slightly down from $11b year-over-year. More than 70% of its ticket sales were made abroad. ASKs grew 13.6% and the carrier transported 61.2m passengers on its 453.000 flights, creating a load factor of 78%. It generated $2.6b of EBITDAR with a 24.5% margin, up 5.7 percentage points in 2015. Chairman of the board and the executive committee Ilker Ayci said: “Turkish Airlines has reinforced its position among the most profitable airlines with these financial results recorded in this challenging year". <br/>
