American Airlines to add Los Angeles-Hong Kong nonstops

American Airlines plans to add nonstop service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong, the carrier announced this week. The service would begin Sept. 7, with American flying one daily round-trip flight on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The route is contingent on regulatory approval. “We announced new domestic Los Angeles routes at the end of January, and customers let us know they wanted more great service to even more destinations,” said Andrew Nocella, American’s chief marketing officer. “This route connects customers in Los Angeles with one of the world’s most important business markets and provides convenient connections to important business and leisure destinations across the Pacific.” Cathay Pacific, a oneworld partner of American, also flies nonstop between L.A. and Hong Kong.<br/>
