American Airlines Group’s pilots union, which recently told executives they feared “toxic” labour relations were returning to the carrier, left a meeting with CE Doug Parker still uncertain of his plans to remedy the issue. Parker, speaking to investors last week and to company managers last month, has acknowledged that cultural change is essential for American to succeed in a new airline industry environment. The carrier must take better care of its employees as part of taking care of customers, he said. However, “it’s unclear at this point whether Parker views the pilot group’s involvement in reforming our airline’s culture as an essential ingredient, and we came away concerned about the lack of details provided,” the union said. “As the airline’s front-line leaders, we want to help bring about cultural change”. <br/>
