Amsterdam to be new headquarters for Jet in Europe

Jet Airways announced Monday its plan to shift its European headquarters from Brussels to Amsterdam. It also said that starting March 27, the airline will operate 2 daily non-stop flights from its international hubs in Mumbai and Delhi to Amsterdam Schiphol. The new flights will be operated under a strategic code-share partnership with KLM and Delta Airlines. The company said this partnership will also facilitate passengers traveling from North America via Amsterdam to connect to Jet Airways network in India. The company said that certain code-sharing routes are pending approval but Jet Airways has envisioned a plan to place its marketing code on KLM’s flights from Amsterdam to 30 cities across Europe, besides this the airline will also place its marketing code on KLM and Delta flights to 11 points across USA and Canada. <br/>

Air Serbia to launch services to New York JFK

Air Serbia will launch services from its Belgrade base to New York JFK in June, 24 years after its predecessor JAT last served the North Atlantic route. The new service has still to gain US governmental approval, but Air Serbia CE Dane Kondić said Feb 18 that its request for clearance is “progressing well” and the airline is on track for a targeted June 23 launch date. The carrier will use a 2-class Airbus A330-200 leased from Jet Airways, on the 5X-weekly service. This is the carrier’s second attempt to gain approval for a US service. A 2014 application, which would have involved a codeshare arrangement with Etihad with flights going via Etihad’s home hub at Abu Dhabi, was ruled out by the US DoT after complaints by US carriers that such a circuitous routing was “irrational.” <br/>
