Qantas to use 787-9s on Hong Kong routes

Qantas plans to deploy Boeing 787-9s on its routes to Hong Kong, in the latest phase of the Australian flag carrier’s introduction of these aircraft to its international network. The delivery of Qantas’ eighth 787-9 will allow the type to be used on existing flights from Australian cities Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Hong Kong beginning in the upcoming southern summer season. Qantas has placed firm orders for 14 787-9s, and those delivered so far are being used on flights to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and London. The -9s are being used to replace Boeing 747s as they are retired, and also to open some new routes. Qantas still has 39 options and purchase rights it has yet to exercise.<br/>
