American Airlines, United Airlines not getting involved in catering workers' pay spat

United Airlines and American Airlines sent a message Friday to Unite Here, the aggressive workers union. Unite Here is now on a mission to get what the union maintains is a liveable wage for workers at Gate Gourmet’s catering operations at both Chicago O’Hare International and Washington Dulles International. At Dulles Friday, Gate Gourmet employees distributed leaflets at the United terminal pointing out that United, which Gate Gourmet workers claim is earning record profits, should be leaning on Gate Gourmet to pay catering workers a wage that does not require them to cut back on food, doctors’ visits and medicine. But if Unite Here representatives think United Airlines is going to step in and help Gate Gourmet workers get what they think they deserve, it appears they better start thinking again. <br/>
