American Airlines flight AA109: Mystery illness forces LA-bound plane to return to London

An American Airlines flight to Los Angeles was forced to return to London Heathrow after 7 flight staff and many passengers collapsed due to mysterious illness. Passengers were shocked to see flight attendants collapse in the aisles, sparking fears about contamination in the air conditioning. When Flight AA109 was airborne near Keflavik in Iceland, an announcement in the passenger cabin asked for any doctors on-board to come forward. The American Airlines flight landed at Heathrow airport, 5 hours after it had left. Passengers were not allowed to disembark while the plane was surrounded by police cars, ambulances and fire crews. A spokesperson for American Airlines confirmed the plane turned round due to a medical emergency and said it was not security-related.
'Plane debris' washes up on Malaysian coast

A metal object believed to be aircraft wreckage washed up on the Malaysian east coast Wednesday, prompting speculation for the second time in a week that debris from Malaysia Airlines MH370 may have surfaced. Local media reported that the object, which was white and measured two metres long, was spotted floating in the waters near the eastern state of Terengganu. The object was found along the same coastline facing the South China Sea as the Nakhon Si Thammarat province in Thailand, where suspected plane debris was found Saturday. Officials have said that debris did not come from MH370. A Malaysian Transport Ministry spokesperson said officials from the Department of Civil Aviation were looking into the latest finding. MH370 disappeared won its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.
