British Airways says it will make announcements to help passengers with peanut allergies
British Airways has become the first major international airline to offer inflight announcements requesting that people sitting near a passenger with a peanut allergy do not eat peanut products. The policy will take effect Feb 18. “We do our best to accommodate the needs of all our customers, including those with food allergies,” the airline said. “We do not serve peanuts as snacks, or include them in our meals and we do not sell peanuts on board our aircraft. We advise customers with peanut allergies to inform our cabin crew of their condition.” Lianne Mandelbaum, founder of Nonuttraveler, which seeks to improve conditions for travellers with nut allergies, applauded the move. “Their response to this growing public health concern should reduce the risk of an in-flight reaction and the emergency situations that would follow,” she said <br/>
