Delta won't add international routes until new Sea-Tac terminal is built

Delta Air Lines would add new international routes to Seattle right now if it could. Instead, the airline probably won’t make any of those moves until late 2019. Delta CE Ed Bastian said his airline is “facility-constrained” at Seattle-Tacoma International because of congestion at the International Arrivals Facility. The current facility, built more than 30 years ago at the airport’s South Satellite, gets extremely congested at peak periods as international passengers try to squeeze through customs. “It would be difficult to bring more international traffic flow at this time,” Bastian said. Bastian said Delta won’t subject its own passengers to that type of squeeze. The Port of Seattle wants to fix the problem as rapidly as possible, and is planning ground-breaking for a new US$608mfacility in Q4 of this year. <br/>
