Kenya Airways says it has suspended and will initiate criminal proceedings against members of staff involved in fleecing the airline, a situation that played a role in the KES25b loss in its full year results for 2015. The airline has announced that it has received the preliminary results of a forensic audit which reviewed the operations, systems and internal controls of the airline over the past 5 years in order to identify where the leakages were stemming from. The audit is the airlines first attempt at finding out just how the airline’s underbelly was left exposed and is likely to shake the airline’s core. Sources privy to the information intimate that at least 6 people have been found culpable; most of them within the airline’s finance department.
Delta said Tuesday it won't back a proposal that US carriers eliminate bag fees this summer in an effort to speed up long airport security lines that result from insufficient staffing by the TSA. But Delta said it would assist TSA when possible -- Monday, the carrier said that it will hire 40 people this summer to help agents move passengers through security faster at Minneapolis-St. Paul International, Delta's third-biggest hub with 408 daily departures. The carrier said it will spend between US$3m and $4m on additional staff at its 32 largest US airports between June and August to help shorten the long security lines. American and United are taking similar steps at their key airports. "Delta believes the focus should remain on our current efforts," the carrier said Tuesday.
