Southwest providing direct flights to Mile High City
Southwest will launch once-a-week nonstop service between Charleston International Airport and the Colorado capital city, starting this weekend. The Dallas-based airline’s new flight will leave the state’s busiest airport at 3:45 p.m. The flight from the Mile High City will touch down in Charleston at 4:15 p.m. “We’re thrilled with Southwest’s addition of weekly service to Denver,” said Paul Campbell, ED and CEO of Charleston County Aviation Authority. “The Denver route not only gives residents of the Lowcountry another connection to the western United States, it opens up a world of travel possibilities.” Southwest started serving the Lowcountry in 2011 with daily flights to Baltimore, Chicago, Houston and Nashville. It added Dallas last year. The airline accounts for nearly 18% of the Charleston market.<br/>
