US: DoT rejects American Airlines request for DFW-Tokyo route
The US DoT will not grant American Airlines’ application for a new daytime route between Dallas Fort Worth International and Tokyo Haneda, despite an effort by Toyota to lobby for the flight. Instead, the department granted the additional Haneda route to Delta Air Lines, which will fly from its hub at Minneapolis. The DoT said American already has 3 flights to Narita from DFW and does not need more. Four existing night-time routes between the US and Tokyo Haneda will move to daytime slots in October, the department said. American Airlines will continue to fly its Los Angeles-Haneda slot. United Airlines now operates San Francisco-Haneda and Delta also operates a Los Angeles-Haneda route. Hawaiian Airlines operates a flight between Honolulu and Tokyo Haneda. <br/>
