Japan grants anti-trust immunity to Spain’s Iberia

Japan has approved Spain’s flag carrier Iberia to be included in a Europe-Japan revenue-sharing partnership, which includes oneworld carriers British Airways, Finnair and Japan Airlines. The anti-trust immunity, which was announced Aug. 16, allows the four airlines to coordinate schedules, fares and share revenue on flights between Europe and Japan. Iberia is expected to join the partnership Oct. 18, when the Spanish airline will immediately launch 3X-weekly nonstop flights between Madrid and Tokyo Narita. Oneworld said the joint business will strengthen the alliance network, with more flights, better connections and improved frequent flyer benefits. BA and JAL started the partnership in 2012 and Finnair joined in 2014.<br/>
