Romania’s Tarom reports US$7m net loss in H1
Tarom said it recorded a first-half net loss of RON28.6m (US$7m), “while the budget of revenue and expenditure provided, for the same period, a loss of RON3.4m.” The company said that “unforeseen losses were generated especially by technical problems that led to the cancellation or delay of certain flights, thus determining the payment of certain unplanned penalties and the reduction of incomes.” Tarom added that the “poor performance of the former executive management between January and March 2016 also had a negative impact”. In March, Tarom’s board decided to make changes in the management team. The airline said it has initiated necessary procedures for modernising its fleet, streamlining operations, improving services, opening new routes, and shaping a new marketing strategy to attract more passengers. <br/>
