British Airways pares its business-only London-New York service

British Airways will cut 1 of its 2 daily flights from London City to New York JFK, slashing capacity on a business-class-only service that began in 2009. The change will be introduced with the winter schedule at the end of October, leaving British Airways with up to 12 daily flights to terminals in the New York area from London’s Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports, according to IAG Thursday. While BA highlighted the City route in a video of the steep landing at the airport in London’s Docklands district only last month, the premium service is particularly exposed to ebbing demand for corporate travel prompted by Britain’s June 23 vote to quit the EU. Because of City’s short runway outbound BA flights are restricted to A318 jets, the smallest members of Airbus' narrow-body family/
British Airways flights to Iran set to resume

British Airways plans to resume flights to Tehran Thursday evening, the latest restored link between the West and Iran since the lifting of nuclear sanctions in January. It suspended service in 2012 amid tightening Western sanctions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which curtailed demand for travel to the country. British Airways plans to operate the service 6 times a week. The airline said the new service had received “a huge amount of interest.” The carrier had announced it would resume flights in February, part of the gradual warming of relations between London and Tehran. The decision to restore the link came only weeks after sanctions on the Islamic Republic were lifted in January after Iran agreed to curbs on its nuclear program. Air France resumed flights to Iran in April, having last flown there in 2008.
