New American Airlines president Robert Isom announces leadership team

American Airlines’ recently appointed president Robert Isom announced a new 6-person leadership team Monday aimed at helping align commercial and operational functions at the carrier. The leadership shuffle reflects a broader shift toward focusing on day-to-day operations at American as the carrier nears the end of its integration with US Airways following the company’s 2013 merger. Isom was named American’s president last month as part of an executive shake-up that saw former president Scott Kirby leave to take the same position at rival United Airlines. Isom previously was American’s COO, a position he also held at US Airways before the merger. While Kirby had 3 direct reports, Isom’s new leadership team will have 6, divided between commercial and operational functions.
American Airlines employees debut new uniforms Tuesday

Over 80,000 American Airlines workers will have a new look about them Tuesday. The carrier is rolling out new uniforms for its pilots, flight attendants, customer service agents and maintenance workers after 2 1/2 years of designing, wear testing and fitting the new clothes. “It’s their professional apparel and it needs to work for them,” said director of global marketing Brady Byrnes. “It also has to complement and support and build our brand.” The modern-styled uniforms include grey suits, red and blue scarves and white shirts, similar to the carrier’s redesigned logo and aircraft livery unveiled 3 years ago. American began shipping out the 1.8m new garments over the summer and offered employees professional alteration services to make sure the new clothes fit properly.
