United breaks ground on new tech operations centre at IAH
United Airlines plans to upgrade its administrative digs during its multimillion-dollar expansion at Houston George Bush Intercontinental. The US$162m project is expected to be complete in late 2018 and will create 200 jobs. The 200,000-square-foot project adds hangar capacity for maintaining wide-body aircraft, a new warehouse distribution centre, technical services and administrative offices. The new space will allow United to consolidate its Houston maintenance facilities, with engineers working in the hangars adjacent to technicians and aircraft. The new centre is part of United's larger update project at its Houston hub, as the airline is undergoing a multimillion-dollar overhaul of its terminals at IAH. Those plans include a redesign of Terminal B South, Terminal C and Terminal E. <br/>
