British Airways to fly all customers to destinations during strike

British Airways said that all its passengers would be flown to their destinations during a 72-hour pay strike by some cabin crew which began Thursday. BA said a small number of its short-haul flights from Heathrow would be merged resulting in 1% of its total schedule being canceled over the 3 day period. All BA's long-haul services to and from Heathrow, plus its flights to and from London Gatwick and London City will all operate as normal, the airline said. The walk-out is being staged by BA's "mixed fleet" cabin crew, who make up around 15% of the airline's total cabin staff. Those involved, represented by the Unite Union, have poorer terms and conditions than some longer-serving staff and rejected a pay offer shortly before Christmas. They have already staged a 48-hour strike earlier this month.
Malaysia to offer reward for missing Flight MH370

Malaysia said Thursday it would pay a reward to any private company that found the fuselage of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, days after a fruitless, 3-year hunt was suspended. Australia, Malaysia and China ended the search for the aircraft Tuesday, leaving one of the world's greatest aviation mysteries unanswered. Malaysian deputy transport minister Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said the govt was open to credible private companies searching for it, and would reward any that found its fuselage. He said the size of the reward had not been decided. Any company intending to search should contact the govt, and a decision would then be made on the reward, he said. The end of the underwater search drew swift and angry reactions from relatives of those on board, who have repeatedly called for the hunt to be expanded.
Russia’s S7 Airlines to begin E170LR operations in April

S7 Airlines will start Embraer E170LR operations from April 1 with services from Novosibirsk to Surgut, Gorno-Altaisk, Nizhnevartovsk, Noyabrsk and Novy Urengoy. In Dec 2016, the carrier agreed to lease 17 used Embraer E170s from GE Capital Aviation Services. The first aircraft will be delivered in the spring. Before the end of the year, S7 will receive all ordered E170LRs. The 76-seat aircraft will be based at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airport, which is one of the carrier’s main bases along with Moscow Domodedovo. S7 Group commercial director Igor Veretennikov said Novosibirsk can easily “connect the regions in most efficient way so passengers will spend less time traveling from Ural and West Siberia to Russia’s Far East and Central Asia.” He said currently many travellers must fly via Moscow airports.
