American Airlines flight attendants plan Valentine’s Day picket

American Airlines flight attendants plan to picket Tuesday at the carrier’s Fort Worth headquarters and three other airports to protest their pay, uniforms and working conditions. The purpose of the pickets is to call attention to what the attendants see as unkept promises in the aftermath of American’s (Nasdaq: AAL) merger with US Airways. The picket will be held on the fourth anniversary of the announcement of the merger. Flight attendants plan to picket American hub airports in Charlotte, N.C., Los Angeles and Miami, in addition to the Fort Worth headquarters. Leaders of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants say their pay and working conditions remain worse than those at Delta and United despite the fact that the merger made American the largest airline in the world. The union, which represents more than 25,000 American flight attendants, also is protesting the airline’s new uniforms, which are believed to have caused symptomatic reactions among more than 2,300 flight attendants. <br/>
