Sweet spot for Kiwi travellers as competition hits air travel costs, Air NZ says

The last 12 months has been the best time for Kiwis to travel as unprecedented airline competition flew into the New Zealand market. Air NZ CE Christopher Luxon said while competition had led to great ticket prices, it has probably hit high tide. Luxon said 8 new international carriers had entered the market in the last 6 months, and a further 2 would come by the end of June. But he believed the country had most likely reached its peak for competition, bar a couple of players that might come in at the margin. But Luxon was happy with how the airline had digested that competition. "It is actually a really good result because it is in the face of unprecedented competition. That's the most competition that's ever entered New Zealand in 77 years of Air NZ's existence."
LOT Polish Airlines expands international services to Israel

LOT plans to restore international services to several regional airports in its home market. The carrier will begin services to Tel Aviv from Lublin, Gdańsk, Poznań and Wrocław from summer 2017. There will also be additional services to the Israeli city from Warsaw, giving a twice-daily rotation from the Polish capital. The additional routes from Warsaw will be offered from June, while flights from regional airports will start from July. Most will be operated by Boeing 737-800s, which are scheduled to join the fleet over the next few months. LOT’s new connections to Israel mark the return of the carrier’s international flights from several regional airports. Previously, Kraków was the only city outside the capital to have an overseas connection with LOT, to Chicago.
