The success of flights on the Warsaw-Seoul route was much greater than Lot had anticipated, according to company CE Rafal Milczarski. At the first anniversary of the launch, Oct 19, Milczarski said the airline was convinced from the beginning that the launch of the connection to Seoul was going to hit the "bull's eye." "It proved us right and it even turned out that the connection has been growing at a faster rate than expected," Milczarski said. The company launched 3 direct flights a week between the capitals last October. For Korea, Poland is the fifth-largest investment market in Europe. For Poland, Korea is its second-biggest trading partner in Asia. According to the airline, until mid-Oct 2017, 67,000 passengers were carried on the direct flights and the load factor was on average 83%.
Brussels Airlines has retired its last BAE Systems Avro RJ100 regional jet. The carrier says it operated a final scheduled service with the type Oct 28: a flight from Geneva to the Belgian capital. "From today onwards, Brussels Airlines' operator license only consists of Airbus aircraft," notes the airline. Its own fleet comprises A319s, A320s and A330s, but it has wet-leased Sukhoi Superjets from Irish carrier CityJet. These operate in Brussels Airlines livery on routes to which Avros were previously assigned. Brussels Airlines launched its operations in 2001 with Avros. At one point its fleet included 32 of the 4-engined regional jets. CE Bernard Gustin said: "The Avro was an important and successful chapter in Brussels Airlines' history; it has brought millions of passengers safe and sound to their destination".
