Delta Air Lines dramatically reducing flights to Cuba from JFK

Delta Air Lines plans to dramatically reduce flights to Cuba from JFK International in New York, just over a year after launching them. Delta's Flight 448 from New York-JFK to Havana was launched Dec 1, 2016. It was Delta's first regularly scheduled flight to depart from the US to Cuba in 55 years. But in a Dec 8 filing with the US DoT, Delta says it "has invested significant resources to establish and support its new service to Havana. However, recent regulatory changes have resulted in lower demand for travel to Cuba from areas outside of South Florida. In particular, traffic on Delta’s service to Havana from JFK has diminished substantially." The airline goes on to say that, "Effective Feb 1, 2018, Delta will terminate service Sunday to Friday and return those frequencies to the Department." <br/>
