American Airlines pilots losing sleep over new hotel booking program
American Airlines pilots have opened up yet another new battlefront with management — hotels. In a memo Wednesday to more than 15,000 American Airlines pilots who belong to the Allied Pilots Association, union management warned of an alleged directive from AA's finance department that will result in a "semi-budget freeze on crew hotels and transportation expenditures for 2018." AA management reacted quickly by issuing a memo from its hotel contracts team that directly refuted the pilots memo: "We assure you there is no spending freeze. In fact hotel spend is going up in 2018 not down." The memo from AA management went on to note that the airline spends US$150m more on hotels each year now than it did 5 years ago. But pilots aren't entirely buying the company line. <br/>
