Korean Air targeted by public and prosecutors over scandals

For many international travellers, the reputation of Korean Air is one of comfortable jets and attentive customer service. In its native South Korea, however, the airline — and the family that runs it — is facing an outpouring of public anger as scandal after scandal throws into disrepute the company’s leadership and values. The wife and two daughters of chairman Cho Yang-ho are facing investigation for a litany of alleged crimes — from smuggling to physical assault — in a case that has highlighted South Korea’s growing impatience with the old habits of its corporate champions. Under president Moon Jae-in’s administration, Seoul has cracked down on the excesses of South Korea’s family-run conglomerates. Now, some analysts believe the country’s top airline could be first to feel the heat of prosecutors under the administration of Moon. <br/>
