An American Airlines flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Hawaii returned to Phoenix Thursday afternoon due to a maintenance issue. Flight 692, which left Phoenix at 11:06 a.m., returned just after 3 p.m. because of a problem with an exhaust gas temperature gauge, according to an American spokesman. The plane was a Boeing 757 with 185 passengers and six crew members, he said. The plane circled Phoenix for a while to burn fuel so it could conduct a regular landing instead of an emergency landing, he said. Passengers on the Hawaii-bound flight will be transferred to another plane, the spokesman said.<br/>
