We will position Air India as a great global airline, says Jayant Sinha

The civil aviation ministry wants to strengthen Air India before restarting the process of privatising the airline. Minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha says that the govt will soon announce a comprehensive package for the carrier and a supportive policy for the entire aviation industry by working on the tax structure. "Our goal right now is to position Air India as strongly as possible for the future. Of course, we remain committed to disinvestment, which even the prime minister has said, aviation minister has said. In the meanwhile, our goal is to strengthen Air India as much as possible, to provide the financial resources and liquidity that it needs to operate properly. And to become a great global airline, which is to have a global network," said Sinha.
United Airlines launching dedicated travel site with million-mile contest

United Airlines plans to award a million MileagePlus miles to 3 winners of a travel contest the airline launched Tuesday in conjunction with a new travel-related content hub it is developing. The site now under development will over time be a spot for other United travellers to share their travel stories in photos and videos. The new travel-focused website will include not only stories posted by a vast array of United travellers, but also travel tips, destination guides and advice on how to maximise award travel. Drumming up interest in travel, of course, can only help United put more people in airplane seats across its route network — that is if there are seats left to be filled. The carrier has been notching record traffic numbers in recent weeks as it rapidly expands the number of markets served by its network.
