S7 receives Russia's first 737 Max
S7 Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max, the initial example of the re-engined type for a Russian operator. The said that the twinjet, a Max 8 variant, will be stationed in Novosibirsk and deployed on routes this week to Moscow and Chita. S7 added that the aircraft – fitted with 176 seats including eight in the business-class cabin – will be used by its Globus operation, which is already a 737 operator. Globus chief Vadim Klebanov said the new Max 8 was acquired through US lessor Air Lease, adding that it will provide “greater comfort” and lower noise levels. S7 is intending to take 11 737 Max jets over the next two years. The airline was also the first in Russia to receive the Airbus A320neo, the re-engined version of the A320, when it took delivery of a BOC Aviation-leased jet last year.<br/>
