SIA to transfer several SilkAir routes to budget arm Scoot

Singapore Airlines said Thursday its budget carrier Scoot will take over several routes from regional airline SilkAir over the next two years, ahead of a plan to absorb underperforming SilkAir into the parent brand. Scoot will also transfer some of its services to existing destinations served by Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, including to some Indian cities. The changes are expected to take place between April 2019 and the second half of 2020, Singapore Airlines said. SilkAir will also transfer 14 Boeing 737-800s to Scoot. Singapore Airlines said it would fold SilkAir into itself after 2020 when a program to upgrade cabins at a cost of more than US$73m gets underway.
ANA to open new Haneda satellite terminal Dec. 10

All Nippon Airways is scheduled to begin using a new satellite terminal at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from Dec. 10. The new facility will be a satellite to Terminal 2 and will have three gates numbered 46-48. To reach the satellite terminal, passengers will have to take a dedicated connection bus from Terminal 2. ANA said the bus trip will take about 3 min., with buses departing from each end every 5 min., so the process could take up to 10 min., including wait times. ANA is advising domestic passengers using satellite gates to proceed through security 20 minutes prior to departure time, which will be the same for other gates at Terminal 2. The carrier announced in August that it will add 5 min. to the security check cut-off time for domestic passengers in Terminal 2. Passengers currently need to go through security checkpoints at least 15 min. before their flights, but from Dec. 1 they will need 20 min.
