Jet Airways to opt out of 7 gulf routes, will cancel 40 flights a week

Jet Airways will cancel about 40 flights a week on 7 Gulf routes from Wednesday as it struggles to raise funds and stay afloat. The airline will cut flights to Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai from various Indian cities. A Jet Airways spokesperson said airline “has undertaken a comprehensive review of its network, whereby it will move capacity from uneconomical routes to more profitable ones. As part of this strategy, Gulf operations are being optimised to focus on connectivity at our hubs in Mumbai and Delhi instead of point-to-point connectivity." The airline says pulling out of some Gulf routes will not affect its scale of operations. Jet has been facing a severe cash crunch due to which it has delayed salary payment to pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers and senior management. <br/>
