Jetstar to begin 787 flights to South Korea
Qantas LCC Jetstar plans to launch its first route to Seoul, which would make it the only Australian airline flying to South Korea. The carrier intends to begin 3X-weekly flights between Australian leisure destination Gold Coast and Seoul from Dec. 8. It will use Boeing 787-8s on the route and will codeshare with South Korean LCC Jeju Air. Currently, only South Korean carriers serve the South Korea-Australia market. Korean Air has flights to Brisbane and Sydney, and Asiana also has a flight to Sydney. Jetstar noted that South Korea “is an underserved market from Australia with strong inbound and outbound demand.” The carrier predicts South Korea has the potential to become one of the most popular destinations for Australian travelers. Gold Coast will also be a good gateway for South Korean tourists, as Jetstar offers direct connections to seven other Australian destinations from there.<br/>
