Reports: Jet Airways’ top executives resign

Jet Airways’ CE Vinay Dube and his deputy and CFO Amit Agarwal have resigned, according to reports in the country’s press. The news came days after Etihad Airways lodged a bid for a minority stake in airline, but made it clear it is seeking partners to help rescue the carrier. The two top executives resigned within hours of each other May 14, both citing “personal reasons” and leaving their posts with immediate effect, according to multiple Indian media reports. Other media outlets have reported more officials had also resigned. The departures are the latest move in a saga that has seen India’s second airline go through a slow-motion collapse. Many staff have not been paid for several months. Hopes now rest on a financial infusion from new or existing shareholders that will revive the company.
SpiceJet, Indigo bag half of Jet Airways’ slots allotted so far

SpiceJet and IndiGo have bagged more than half of Jet Airways’ vacant slots allotted so far as the hope for the grounded airline’s revival diminishes with each passing day. The ministry of civil aviation has granted 479 landing and take-off slots so far. Of these, SpiceJet got 130 and IndiGo was given 127 slots. While full-service carrier Vistara got 110 from Jet’s kitty, GoAir and AirAsia were allotted 44 and 42 slots, respectively. Air India received a nod to operate 26 slots, including 2 to its regional subsidiary Alliance Air. Jet mainly held slots at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Nagpur airports. For SpiceJet, 68 out of 130 slots have come at Mumbai airport. According to the airline, it has added around 50 domestic and international flights connecting Mumbai since April 1.
