Italy in final rush for Alitalia rescue: Industry minister

Italy's Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio said Tuesday the government was in a final rush to orchestrate a rescue of trouble carrier Alitalia. State-owned railway group Ferrovie dello Stato is running against the clock to put together a consortium of investors ready to inject money in the loss-making airline and meet a mid-June deadline to present its rescue plan to the ministry. "We are in the final rush. It will be a crucial week, during which we will have to take decisions," Di Maio said. Sources told Reuters on Monday the deadline will be extended again by 15 days or one month.<br/>

Air France KLM's May passenger numbers rose 3.3% from last year

Air France KLM carried a total of 9.2m passengers across its networks last month, up 3.3% from the same period last year, with new chief executive Ben Smith aiming for a better co-ordination of the Air France and KLM networks. Air France KLM's May passenger load factor - an industry metric that measures how much of an airline's passenger carrying capacity is used - also rose 1.8 percentage points from a year earlier to 87.3%. <br/>

Aeroflot, Vietnam Airlines codeshare set to begin

Aeroflot and Vietnam Airlines are set to begin codesharing on routes in Russia and Vietnam, Aeroflot said June 11. The agreement includes Aeroflot routes from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and domestic flights from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Ufa and Krasnodar; as well as Vietnam Airlines routes from Hanoi to Moscow and domestic flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang. On several of the routes codesharing will begin July 1. The two SkyTeam alliance members signed an MOU for strategic cooperation in September 2018.<br/>
