BA restores part of Sept 27 flight schedule as strike averted
British Airways will operate around half of its flights Friday as the airline restores some of its schedule after its pilots announced they would no longer strike Sept 27. The carrier said customers whose flights were scrapped because of next week’s planned industrial action will have the option to rebook on to a BA flight. The news comes 2 days after BALPA, which represents the majority of BA’s pilots, cancelled next week’s strike action and called on the airline to restart talks to end one of the most serious industrial disputes in its history. But the decision will come at a cost for BA. The airline had already cancelled most of its 800 flights for Sept 27, as well as dozens of flights either side of the strike date. <br/>
