American sues Delta over trademark infringement issue

American Airlines took Delta Air Lines to court last Friday over use of a marketing term. American filed a lawsuit against Delta over Delta using the term ‘Flagship’ to promote its premium services, which is language similar to what American uses. American asked the court for injunctive relief against Delta in the lawsuit filed in the Northwestern District of Texas. “Delta is well aware of American’s Flagship Marks,” American wrote in the lawsuit, saying that Delta’s use of the term is causing confusion among flyers. “This confusion is only amplified because Delta is using these terms to promote its own premium air travel services — which just so happen to be the very same services in which American has used its Flagship Marks for decades,” American added. “This is no coincidence.” <br/>
