Delta speeds up coronavirus-related China flight suspensions

Delta said Saturday that it will suspend flights to and from China earlier than the carrier had previously announced as a result of new screening protocols implemented by the Trump administration in response to the new coronavirus. The last China-bound flight departing from the US will leave on Saturday, the airline said. The last return flight from China to the US will depart on Sunday. The airline had previously said that it would begin suspending flights on Thursday. The Trump administration declared the new coronavirus a public health emergency in the US Friday. Air travel between the US and China has slowed significantly since the outbreak of the flu-like respiratory illness in late December, airlines have reported. Meanwhile, other American companies with footprints in China, including Apple, Ford and Kraft Heinz, have restricted employees’ China business travel or scaled back operations as a result of the disease. Delta’s flight suspension is expected to end April 30. Story has full statement from Delta.
Garuda Indonesia to halt flights to China

Garuda Indonesia will temporarily halt flights to and from China starting Wednesday to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in Indonesia. The policy will see the cancelation of flights to and from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Xi’an in China, while flights to and from Hong Kong will be allowed under close supervision of Garuda Indonesia and local authorities. "The policy is also part of Garuda Indonesia's commitment and full support of the government's efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia," said Garuda Indonesia president director Irfan Setiaputra, adding that passengers could reroute or reschedule their flights to or from China. Garuda Indonesia operates 30 flights to China every week. The cancellation decision was made after the government declared on Sunday that it would ban all travel to and from China to prevent the spread of the deadly pneumonia-like virus. Indonesia has found no cases of the coronavirus infection on its soil.
Korean Air cannot be improved by current management: Parent shareholders

Key shareholders of Korean Air's parent company said Friday that the airline and its parent group need professional executives, not current management. The statement comes amid a family feud between the South Korean flag carrier's CEO and group chairman Cho Won-tae and his sister ahead of a shareholders meeting in March. Cho's sister, Heather Cho, a former Korean Air executive whose "nut rage" incident in 2014 made global headlines, has accused her brother of disobeying their late father's will for the family to work together for the management of the group.
