Strikes cause mass cancellations, delays on Brisbane Jetstar flights

Half of the Jetstar flights in and out of Brisbane Airport were cancelled or delayed Wednesday, with airline workers staging a 24-hour national strike. Jetstar cancelled 48 domestic flights and contacted affected customers at the weekend offering to move them to another flight or give them a full refund. No international flights were affected.. There were 16 Jetstar flights due to depart Brisbane between 6.30am and 9.50pm Wednesday, but 6 were cancelled and 1 was delayed. There were 14 Jetstar flights due to arrive in Brisbane between 6.45am and 10.10pm, but 6 were cancelled and 2 were delayed. The TWU estimated 250 Jetstar baggage handlers and ground crew would strike at the nation's major airports Wednesday. However, Jetstar said only 29 of its staff had notified the company they would be walking off the job. <br/>
