Air France is to ground its Airbus A380s and KLM its full Boeing 747 fleet as part of wider capacity cuts the group expects will result in in potential cuts in its ASK capacity of between 70% and 90%. The cuts follow the tightening of travel restrictions in Europe generally, and the group’s home nations of France and the Netherlands specifically, in response to the coronavirus crisis. Notably that includes the French govt’s move to a level 3 public health emergency requiring the closure of all non-essential services. ”Faced with these growing restrictions on the possibility of travelling...the Air France-KLM Group is obliged to gradually reduce its flight activity very significantly over the next few days, with the number of available seat kilometres potentially decreasing between -70% and -90%,” the group says. <br/>
