American Airlines is restarting $205m in mothballed projects at DFW International Airport that it delayed during the company’s financial crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fort Worth-based American put more than $1b in projects on hold for 2020 and 2021 as the pandemic sapped the airline’s financial flexibility last spring. That included a $100m flight kitchen and a $100m parts warehouse. American Airlines, which lost $8.9b in 2020 as nationwide air travel dropped by 60%, reworked its lease for those two projects with DFW Airport. Now the airport is planning to finance the projects at a cost of about $2.7m for American in the first year of the deal.<br/>
