EgyptAir to fly 5,000 Palestinian Umrah pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

In coordination with Palestinian Airlines, EgyptAir has opened an air bridge to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport to transport 5,000 Palestinians for Umrah this year. This follows directives from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure the transport of “Palestinian brothers to the holy land during the Hajj and Umrah seasons,” said Yehia Zakaria, board chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company. For the season — from Nov. 15 to Feb. 20, 2023 — 14 special flights have been scheduled for the pilgrims. The newest Boeing B787-9 aircraft, capable of carrying 309 passengers, will be used for the first time and will make four flights each month to help the Palestinian pilgrims, said Ehab Al-Tahtawi, board chairman of the airline. Jamal Almashharawi, general manager of Palestinian Airlines, thanked EgyptAir for the support over the years for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims. In July, EgyptAir opened an air bridge for the return of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and transported nearly 20,000 Egyptian, Palestinian, Malian, and transit passengers on 114 flights.
Singapore Air adds Asia flights, trims some US services in rejig

Singapore Airlines will add flights to East and Southeast Asia from early next year and trim some US services as it tweaks routes and plane allocations to get a head start over rivals as nations ease travel restrictions. The city-state’s flag carrier will resume flights to Busan in South Korea and increase services on Airbus SE A380 superjumbos to Australia, it said in an exchange filing Tuesday. It will also operate fewer services to Los Angeles, Houston and Seattle, and fly a Boeing Co. 777 to New York, instead of an A380. While the Asia-Pacific region in general has been slower than the rest of the world to open up after the pandemic, places like Singapore and Australia have largely thrown off the shackles, encouraging airlines to tap travel-hungry tourists and business executives. China, however, one of the world’s biggest aviation markets, remains largely off limits due to virus restrictions, and airlines are adjusting their capacity and fleets accordingly. Singapore Air will now operate the A380 to Melbourne and add a second daily service on the world’s largest passenger plane to Sydney. It also plans to operate the larger plane to newly opened Hong Kong from March, bringing Singapore Air’s daily services between the two financial hubs to four round trips.
Air India reopens route between Copenhagen and Delhi

After almost three years of corona closure, from March 2023 there will again be direct flights three times a week from Copenhagen to the world’s most populous country. The reopening of the Delhi-CPH route will benefit Danish business and tourism – and strengthen Copenhagen Airport as a Northern European traffic hub. When Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Delhi lands at Copenhagen Airport on March 1, 2023, at 17:50, it marks the restart of a successful direct route and a strengthening of trade and tourism between Denmark and India. “The Delhi-CPH route will strengthen our position as Northern Europe’s most important traffic hub and provide lots of new opportunities for business and holidays in Asia. In addition, travellers from Copenhagen will be able to fly via Delhi to a large number of destinations in India and the rest of Asia,” says managing director Thomas Woldbye. As a member of Star Alliance, Air India will have the opportunity to use the large Star Alliance transfer network in Copenhagen and send Indian travellers from Delhi onward to Europe via Copenhagen Airport.
