Iberia's Qatar Airways Doha-Buenos Aires codeshare gains approval from Argentina
The Argentinian Government approved an amendment to Qatar Airways and Iberia’s codeshare agreement, which authorizes both companies to offer codeshare flights in the route Doha-Buenos Aires via Madrid or Barcelona. Argentina authorized Qatar and Iberia’s renewed codeshare agreement On Monday, the Argentinian Government published a resolution approving certain changes to Iberia and Qatar Airways’ codeshare agreement, which authorizes both airlines to offer joint flights from Doha International Airport (DOH) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). These services can go through Barcelona El Prat International Airport (BCN) or Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD). This approval allows Qatar Airways to operate the flight segment between Doha and either of the Spanish cities and Iberia to commercialize it. The next segment, between Madrid/Barcelona and Buenos Aires, is approved for Iberia to operate it and Qatar Airways to commercialize it. Nonetheless, the Argentinian government strictly forbade Qatar and Iberia to operate fifth freedom rights in the segments Buenos Aires-Madrid/Barcelona and Madrid/Barcelona-Doha, respectively. Both companies have had a partnership since 2017. Qatar Airways is the only operator between Qatar and Spain, offering 40 weekly flights. The State carrier has 14 weekly services to Barcelona and 26 to Madrid, according to data by Cirium.<br/>
