Air Canada capping prices for flights leaving Yellowknife as crews battle blazes

Canada’s Transport Minister on Thursday said it has received assurances from the country’s largest airline that it is capping prices for flights out of the northern city of Yellowknife, where residents have been ordered to leave due to the threat of wildfires. Earlier in the day, social media users shared displays of multi-leg trips offered by several carriers from Yellowknife to Calgary for more than C$4,000, flagging concerns over price gouging. “Our office has reached out to Air Canada and they have confirmed to us that they are capping prices for flights leaving Yellowknife,” said a spokeswoman for Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez.<br/>
