Korean Air, Jeju Air to expand routes to China
Korean Air and Jeju Air are set to expand their number of flights to the Greater China region in response to the burgeoning tourism demand. This underscores the airlines’ commitment to reviving the travel and tourism sector, which is starting to recover following a Covid-19 pandemic-induced slump. Korean Air announced that it will operate thrice-weekly chartered flights to Taichung, one of Taiwan’s top three cities, starting from May 2nd to June 29th, 2024. The schedule is set for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing Incheon International Airport at 3:30 PM (local time) and arriving in Taichung at 5:15 PM. The return flights from Taichung are scheduled at 6:50 PM, landing back in Incheon at 10:40 PM. A Boeing 737-8 with a capacity of 146 seats (8 Prestige and 138 Economy) will service this route. With the addition of these chartered flights, Korean Air will now offer a total of 24 weekly flights to Taiwan, supplementing its existing 14 weekly flights to Taipei from Incheon and 7 from Busan. The airline expressed its intention to continually increase passenger supply to cities where travel demand is rising, thereby offering more convenient and diverse schedules for visitors to Taiwan.
