Aircraft maintenance engineers at WestJet ratify new contract
WestJet Airlines said on Friday its aircraft maintenance engineers and other technical operations employees, represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, had ratified a new labor deal with the Canadian carrier. The tentative agreement received 96% votes in favor, AMFA said in a separate statement on the same day. Details of the agreement were not disclosed. The vote comes days after WestJet reached a new five-year agreement with the union, ending a strike that disrupted operations at the airline and led to cancellations of more than 800 flights.
