Japan Airlines partners with Lime for ‘last-mile micromobility’

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced a new partnership with micromobility provider Lime, aimed at boosting sustainable last-mile travel options in Japan. This collaboration will bring Lime’s electric scooters and bicycles to more Japanese cities, starting with Okinawa, and offers a unique perk: JAL Mileage Bank members can now earn air miles on Lime rides, making it Japan’s first partnership of this kind between an airline and an electric micromobility company. JAL will support Lime in rolling out docking stations for Lime’s electric scooters and bicycles in Tokyo, Okinawa, and other cities. Okinawa’s launch on 7 November will see Lime’s first 40 docking stations in Naha City, where 180 standing and seated scooters will be available, facilitated by JAL’s local network. The move is aligned with JAL VISION 2030, with Japan Airlines expanding into the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) sector, with the goal of promoting sustainable travel and maintaining transport links across Japan. <br/>
