Asiana proposes new directors ahead of integration with Korean Air

Asiana Airlines Co. announced a lineup of proposed directors as part of its ongoing integration with Korean Air Lines Co. According to regulatory filings on Monday, Asiana Airlines plans to nominate Song Bo-young, Senior Managing Director at Korean Air overseeing the passenger business division, as an internal director during its shareholders' meeting on January 16th, 2024. Song is viewed as the prospective new leader of Asiana Airlines, according to industry sources. The proposal also includes Kang Du-seok, Senior Managing Director of Korean Air's human resources division, and Cho Sung-bae, Senior Managing Director of its materials and facilities division, as internal directors. Kang and Cho are the first Korean Air executives dispatched to Asiana Airlines, with Kang expected to play a pivotal role in reorganizing Asiana's structure. In addition to internal directors, Asiana Airlines has proposed the appointment of Choi June-sun, Professor Emeritus at Sungkyunkwan University Law School, and Jang Min, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Finance, as outside directors. Air Busan, a low-cost carrier under Asiana Airlines, has put forth a similar proposal, naming Korean Air executives as internal directors ahead of its own shareholders' meeting, also scheduled for January 16th. The agenda includes appointing Korean Air's passenger sales head and corporate integration task force head as internal directors, with both expected to assume leadership roles as Air Busan's new chief and sales head.<br/>
