Thai Airways unveils new A320 business class seat

Thai flag carrier and Star Alliance member Thai Airways has officially unveiled its new ‘Royal Silk’ business class seat for its regional narrowbody Airbus A320 aircraft. Thai Airways has 20 A320 aircraft, all inherited following its integration with Thai Smile, and the new business class seats will be available on all 20 aircraft by the end of the second quarter, the carrier says. The new cabins feature 12 seats in a 2-2 configuration across the first three rows, and they come with adjustable headrests and legrests, but no in-built entertainment systems. Instead, passengers may watch content on their personal devices via the inflight wifi ‘wireless entertainment system’. On flights longer than 3.5 hours, passengers will be offered amenity kits designed by Jim Thompson and available in 12 different Thai heritage inspired designs. Thai Airways Royal Silk passengers get fast track immigration, priority boarding and baggage handling, access to the Royal Orchid Lounge, a 40kg checked baggage allowance, as well as 125-150% bonus Royal Orchid Plus miles. Royal Silk class service on the A320 aircraft is currently available on eight domestic routes from Bangkok – Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Phuket, Hat Yai, and Krabi.<br/>
